| A new era in waterfront
development began in the early 1980's when Dan Wittenberg recognized that the
surface of the water could be transformed into real estate.
President Wittenberg founded International Marine Floatation Systems Inc. (IMF), and it's predecessor corporation Danbuoy Inc., in 1981 to foster innovative waterfront development and to create opportunity for “higher and better use” of the world’s most valuable real estate, the waterfront. At the outset Wittenberg reasoned that the advent of super ports had forever changed the face of shipping and commerce, leaving world-class harbours and ports facilities derelict. Recognizing the failure of conventional planning and development to address this endemic problem, Wittenberg invented a permanent floating foundation capable of relocating traditional land-based facilities on the surface of the water. IMF has successfully applied its award winning innovative technology to the aquaculture industry, residential communities, rowing clubhouses, yacht shelters, swimming pools, breakwaters, marinas, hotels, restaurants, retail shopping, and roadways capable of carrying heavy vehicular traffic.
